I have decided that my 6800GT is now beginning to get a bit slow and with £200 of spare cash it seems a good option to find something new.

I have been looking at the X1800 cards however they are only 16 Pipe so I am guessing they wont be much of an improvement over my 6800GT? My CPU should last a while yet clocked at 2.5, or at least I hope so.

What would you suggest. £200 is my max for a card (obviously im getting a new mobo) and Id like to have a noticable improvement in FPS. If I can get something under £200 then even better.

There is a special on the x1900xt which I also have been considering. On OCUK. I think it is 205 squids.

Maybe you might try the MM forum or failing that on ebay. At the moment though the x1900xt looks attractive the most as it allows oyu to play at high res with all the eye candy turned up. There's very few games it can;t handle.

Maybe oblivion miught strain it but to be honest oblivion would cripple any card almost SLI, CF or the 7950.

The x1800xt will rip your 6800GT apart.

If you can stretch then go for the 1900xt, but IMO the x1800xt @£150 is far too good a deal to pass up.

Looks like I have found the card I will upgrade to :)

This one yeah?

As said the X1800XT will easily trounce your 6800GT. Its faster at stock than a 7900GT, to give you an idea. (Pixel pipelines are no longer a good way to judge speed on graphics cards the same way you dont compare clockspeeds when talking AMD v Intel processors).

The X1800XT 256MB is the best bang per buck card at the moment. Though if you want to try your luck you could grab the HIS ATI Radeon X1900 GT & see if you were lucky enough to get one that can unlock to an X1900XT.

Yeah the x1800xt is a very good card. I picked up one second hand with a Zalman VF900 so its nice and quiet. Never tried the stock fan so I can't really comment on the noise level. Oblivions runs nicely, just need to tweak the graphics a little so that you get a confortable frame rate.
