Seeing as you've said xmas time any build we spec will be hopelessly out of date come then.
If your not going to overclock dont bother with the AMD. You might as well go with the intel i3 2100. It's a better option than the AMD 955 let alone the 850. That said bulldozer could well be released by xmas which will throw a spanner in the works and a rethink will be needed.
