Hi guys. Ive sold my nvidia 295, i got 310 pounds, and i sold some memory for 90. so i have 400 pounds to play with. Shall i buy one of the newer ati cards dx11 or wait till the nvidia ones are out. Can i get a card for 400 now better than that 295?

thanks for advice.

2 of the Saphire 5850's would be a little bit over £400, but those should be better than a 295 I should think...

Ahh! Forgot the budget...:( In that case it looks like a new mobo if you want to go crossfire 5850's or something like that. Hang on...that would still be over budget. Sorry Leeroy.

If you get some Christmas cash then you could grab one, or you could wait until the new year, maybe..maybe they will come down a tad.

i can get a new mobo sometime next year if i have to, just thought there would be something out thats better than the 295 for that price! was i wrong to sell :(

can u link me to the one you think is the one i should get , thanks

You lazy sod!!

What's wrong with you searching the OcUK shop yourself to find the 5970's??!?!

::edit::

Also, I wouldn't say you were wrong to sell the 295 just now, as they will only start depreciating value, so now was a good time to sell it, while they are still worth something.

no i wanted to know exactly which card he was saying to get mate, i know theres a few of them on there you see.

All of the 5970's available atm are the same card.. the main differences really is the sticker on the cooler, and some companies offer longer warranty, but apart from that they are identical.

If I were you, I'd grab a 5870 now, and then once you get a CrossfireX capable mobo grab another one later on.

It shouldn't be that much slower than a 295, your not going to notice any difference I wouldn't have thought.

Though if you can shell out the extra cash, you could just go for the 5970.

Wasn't there some benches around that showed a single 5970 to be on par with 2 x 295's, or did I just imagine that?

well i have to grow up some time dont i mate and go into the dark side hehe . if ati have better cards im stupid not to use them aint i. :)

This would be the second time you've "grown up" wouldn't it?

I wonder how long it is until you go back to your ways of "ATi = problems, nVidia = peace of mind" again?

As for the topic, I would say the best thing for you to do would be get a 5850 now, then in the new year, upgrade your motherboard and get a second 5850.

5870s just aren't worth their asking price, not at all.
