i have about 400+ maybe more to spend on a new card and wish to play new games on my rig what card should i buy p.s. i dont want to overclock :)

If you want to spend the full £400+ then a 980.

If you wish to save some money for around 15% less performance then get a 290/290x/970

hi thanx for the advice im not sure what the difference between the 980 reference model and the rest really are is the Inno3D GeForce GTX 980 "Herculez X3 Ultra" worth it or id i dont mind the xtra power consumpton should i just get a 780ti ??

Anandtech puts the 300 quid 780ti consistently ahead of the 260 quid 970 at your resolution but not necessarily vastly ahead all the time. If you don't care about slight power savings and are happy to spend 300 notes, the 780ti is the better card at 1920x1080

If you can stretch, £420 for a 980. :)

If not nothing can beat out of the box performance of the 780Ti at £295.99 from OcUK which has FREE games and mouse mat. :)

i was thinking about a 980 but couldnt find any concrete evidence of it being vastly better im so bad at deciding thanks everyone for the help

The 980 costs 35+% more than the 780ti and you won't see 35+% more performance out of it.

Two gtx 780s in sli would smash a 980 but I think you'd have to be playing at 1440 res to see the benefits. And have an sli motherboard and beefy power supply of course!

Edit two 780s at 200 notes each from this site, that is.

im not sure what i want thats my plight

The 780's are absolutely flying of the shelf at under £200, like people have said a pair of 780 in SLI for sub £400, nothing can even come remotely close to the value to money performance.
