What cards have you owned?

Sorry if this has been done before but I was just trying to remember my Vid card history. Some have been lame and replaced quite quickly, others I have loved.

Often that X factor provided by:

a) How much of a bargain it was and
b) How well it OC'ed/modded

My vid card history:

Trident - not sure about specifics
Cirrus Logic VL bus - bargain performance, pre 3d (Word never looked so good )
GF 2 MX - mild overclock, Q3A looked the business
GF 3 Vanilla - removed HS and AS'ed, good 30% OC
Rad 9500Pro - Loved this, 9700Pro Bios mod and great OC, CS goodness
Rad 9800Pro - 9800XT Bios mod, small OC, adaquate but a little underwhelming
GF 6800LE - Didn't unlock any extra pipe or clock too well
GF 6800LE - Fully unlocked, 450MHz core!, Arctic Silencer MONSTER
GF 6800U - bought second hand, poor clocker, sold it and went back to LE
Rad X850XT PE - Great performance despite poor OC, no SM3
GF 7900GTO - Great clock, GTX bios mod, no HDR+AA but still Lovin' it

My top 4 (why 4? because they are the ones which stand out) would be:

7900GTO, Mod/OC/Silence/Value/Performance - Has everything
Second 6800LE for being a true 6800Ultra beater (Quake 4 was yummy)
9500Pro for 90% of the performance of the 9700Pro at half the price (Great until CS:S)
GF3 for seeing me through CS until 1.6

What has been your history or favourite video card that had the elusive X-Factor?

fx5950u - first custom rig, started gaming, pelted the card, then i got water over it

You must have been choked? Kudos to anyman brave enough to use a peltier though

8800gtx & 7600gt - 3 screens and powaaa!

Ooh, KyroII. I had one of these. It's was truly awesome in CS but stank in almost everything else. Turned up with a faulty fan so I returned it for the GF3 after a bit of passive testing

correction: your 9500pro had half the performance of the 9700pro

Really, I'm suprise at that as I was very dissappointed going from that to a 9800Pro. The 9500Pro was BIOS unlocked, flashed, OC'ed and Arctic Silencer

-Leadtek 6800GT PCI-E - minor upgrade made necessary by a move to the NF4U-D mobo. Still got this sat on the shelf and should really try and sell it while it's still worth something....
-MSI 7900GTO - As usual I've got a huge overclock on the memory, seems like a pretty reasonably card which finally lets me use AA. Bought in preparation for a move to TFT and hence needing a bit more grunt to ensure games are playable in 1680x1050 native resolution.

That GT of yours has got to still be worth 40-50 on auction?

Yes the GTO is bargain loverlyness

Agreed, but half the memory bandwidth does not mean exactly half the performance
