Hi guys.

Just about to purchase this rig.. Haven't upgraded for about 3 years so time to treat myself.

After all day deliberation (and with thanks to CarlD, FP7909 and especially Rippling - enjoying the schnapps??) here it is:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) -
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)

So the question is, what is the best case??

There are a number of options, but I won't prejudice the answers by quoting them now....

Tell me what you think

ta,

Whitey.

You know 5 minutes ago that was top of my list. Then a few minutes later it slid down to number 322... Weird..... That's the progress of technology I suppose.

Thanks for the offer though.

Any other suggestions??

ta,

Whitey.

None..... Go for it... The one i just chose is £150 ish...... I keep my stuff for a long time so worth the expense...... Think £150 is a good limit tho.... Would prefer cheaper but see what the consensus is.

thx Squiffy. is that the CM 810 or the 830 case m8...

Can't seem to find the 810........... Not on OcUK anyways.

U know this morning I was nearly buying the spec as you m8. only difference was the 4800+ processor and a ATI X1950XTX.....

Amazing what a day makes........

Well i wasn't expecting that comment. The 810 is just too big for my desktop. Nice bit of kit but the base system i hvae at the moment will be fine for the 4 HDD's that i hvae got. It runs near enough 24/7 and has done for 2-3 years.. Bless..

Why is i the 830 rubbish?? Surely it's the same as yours only slightly smaller...

in which case the LL1000 is a good bet or maybe the pc101 which looks lovely..

let me know... I'm eager to roder.

remember the spec i've chosen is:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) -
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 (PCI-Express)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)

You're a top geezer.

Whitey.

Think you've sold me on it.. Which fans will i need to buy for it...

I am a Newbie and it needs spelling out... Quiet and top notch...

You do love that stacker m8.....

This needs some deliberation i think...

keep the debate going... Please.. All info is greatly received.

You're right m8, it's only 120mm bigger than the eclipse but 320 bigger than the 830..........

What do i do??? Hehe.... 584 x 227 x 536 mm does seem very big for what i need..... Althought the 830 is 250 x 536 x 638 mm being very wide...

The eclipse is 460 x 240 x 560mm .

Cheers m8....... Think you're rigth from all the posts i've read today... Good job man invented alcohol otherwise i would've gone mad hours ago.

The spec is changing all the time and the price keeps going up.

I'll bin the side panel but looking maybe to upgrade now to the Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard.

What do you reckon ??

Just want the best m8 and you're obviously in the know...

With respect and regards,

Whitey

Cheers m8... Thx for the input.. At the moment i've got two specs that i think i'm happy with.

These are:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
CoolerMaster Stacker 830 - Silver Trim (No PSU)
ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 (PCI-Express) - Retail

and

Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X ***Crossfire/Master Edition*** SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 (PCI-Express) - Retail
Maxtor MaxLine III NCQ 250GB 7V250F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Akasa Eclipse 62 Aluminium Case - No PSU

not a lot in them really. Prob go for either the Antec 900 gamer which i really like or the eclipse.... With fans extra of course.

The real issue is the mobo.... Two completely different card, bu ti think the asus is coming out best.. Whats your opinion?/

Ta.

Whitey

Whoops!! Edit .. i'm going for the seagate drives as they are more reliable. :)
