What case?

What case can I use? With my new build/upgrade I want a quality case but I don't want loads of spare bays.

So I need a case which takes ATX mobos, standard sized cards and PSU but only 1 optical drive bay and 1 or maybe 2 internal 3.5" bays for HDD.

I can't find one...any suggestions?

lian li pc g50? think thats what it's called, raikiri has one, its brilliant, fits all his stuff, bit cramped, but looks tidy enough.

edit: ocuk dont sell this model, you might need to look else where, its not exactly what you want, but its compact, and very few 'extra' bays

Or the V600 which is the same internally and OCUK do stock it. But both can be tricky to cool as the height of the HSF is limited by the PSU.
The closest I can find are the Lian-Li V800 and V880 but they're desktop cases. Come to think of it, a V800 is just what I need for my portable server. I hope I can find a UK supplier.

Ben, what you're after probably doesn't exist as a tower case as using a standard mobo means the case will have a certain minumum volume. The manufacturer will fill it with drive bays as, normally, it will sell better.

<Later> Have a look at the Silverstone LC10 - very close to what you want if you're happy with a desktop case.

Thanks for the input guys. Been looking at the LC10, but really for use as my media PC. Think I'll just have to stick with 5 spare bays at the front of my oversized tower!!!

not quite sure how raikiri did it but he has a freezer 7 pro in there, with a modded akasa amber 120mm cooling it

Velcro f t w

It is actually held there really well by the velcro, I pushed it fairly hard and it didn't move at all. Cables aren't at all tidy atm but I will hopefully be buying the Corsair Modular PSU which should help to some extent and cooling is actually pretty impressive really (6300 @ 2.8ghz, all fans at 1000rpm and 46c load running ORTHOS). The airflow has been reversed so the intake is at the rear with the side fan also as an intake (show as exhaust in the picture) and the front fan as an exhaust.

Oh, and 8800GTX SLi would fit in there if you only used the bottom optial bay for a DVD drive and the higher ones to mount HDs, alternatively you could use a low profile CPU cooler and mount the HDs/PSU in their proper places.

:D antec 900 for cooling power

For cooling... well yes because of the sheer amount/size of the fans used. Is very ugly though IMO.

Well the OP says he doesn't want loads of spare bays so they aren't really suitable, I like the original stacker but I'm not a fan of the 830.

Gone up a bit hasn't it?

Great case though, maybe the Antec Solo or Lian Li PC7 for a bit less. Both are good cases but the PC7 is standard sized whereas the Solo only has 4 external bays.
