What caused this PSU to fail?

I recieved a PC like that at work the entire back of the case was like that it was also disgustingly filthy having had coffee spilt over it and the insides stained yellowy brown from nicotine.

The fan in the PSU had stopped causing it to overheat until it stopped working.

The fixed and cleaned PC came back in for something else and it was going the same way. :confused:
