Hey all,

Looking at getting a new camera as mine is ancient,5mp and only takes about 4 pictures before I have to change the batteries.

I have around £100 - £150 to spend, I would like a camera with a fast shutter speed to catch "Action" shots because I am sad and like to take pictures of my cat.

As well as cat photos the camera would be used for day to day use, photos of events, capturing textures for 3D work etc. I just have no idea where to begin looking so thought I would ask for some advice on what camera to get.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have a smartphone? Just for catching your cat doing things, you'll need something that's always by your side. Most smartphones these days can compete with compact cameras that retail for your budget...

Do you want something you can slide in your pocket, or something to start you off in photography?

I only ask because for £150 you could pick up a secondhand DSLR with a kit lens.

That's what I did a few years ago just to take some decent-quality astronomical captures through my telescope. Now, many thousands of pounds later..... :)

My girlfriend wants a digital camera in exactly the same budget. Any other suggestions? Compact but with a decent lenses I suppose would be good.
