right, i have just been given an asus P8N32 SLi SE deluxe.. i have a 7600gt spare, and all other components, all i need is a cpu and a cooler, coolers im fine with, although if u wanna spec me one thats cool. What cpu can i stick in there for cheap, my initial thoughts were the 805, cheap, good clocking potential, and i can pick one up for 50 quid, i dont particularly wanna go conroe, as the fsb of this board wont push past 330, so it'd be pointless, and i'll get a beasty rig at some other point :)

Cheers dudes

wrong forum im afraid ;)

and as its an intel board my only advice to you is to douse it in petrol, set it on fire, then get down to the local church and confess your sins.

i failed to mention, what cpu should i stick in it and clock the hell out of (thus in oc'ing forum) i aint clocked intel yet, been amd all the way, and as this board is free... and brand new... what the hell :)

Oh yeah, it is an intel board... :P

is that it? if so, who ever gave it you for free is quite mad.

that asside,

i personally would go for one of these:

Intel Pentium 4 915 Dual Core "LGA775 Presler" 2.8GHz (800FSB) - Retail (CP-133-IN) £101.04 Including VAT

or

spend the extra £30 for the E6300. according to the asus site...

"This motherboard supports the latest Intel® Core™2 processors in LGA775 package. With new Intel® Core™ microarchitecture technology and 1066 / 800 MHz FSB, Intel® Core™2 processor is one of the most powerful and energy efficient CPU in the world."

so on that basis, you should be fine and for an extra £30 over your budget its well worth it.

now if youl excuse me, im off to sleep with a horse as i need to do something dirtyer than giving advice about what intel chip someone should buy. *shudders*

i just want sommat i can clock test with, i dont wanna go spending money on a chip (which quite frankly pwns...) for a system that im only gonna be using as testing purposes, i have a nice enermax 600, so should be plenty for the oc on an 805, as many reviews state that this should be able to hit dual 4ghz on air... Which, (i know its not all to do with just clock speed...) just doesnt seem anywhere near as close to what the 6300 can do from dual 1.86 stock...

Convince meh!! (i am yet to find a review of the 2 chips being compared...)

Also, i doubt i'd wanna push such a gorgeous chips such as the e6300... i am quite literally gonna try and clock it to its max mach2 stylee (although this isn't going to be the final cooler, i have a spare aero flower that should fit..)
