Lots of people talk about how great Civ is and how it's very addicting but I've never really tried it due to its turn based nature and it seems complicated for a dummie like me.

So What Civ should I get? Basically which has the best tutorial! I can play pretty much any of them as I have DOSBox but can run Civ 6. I can also play the console Revelations thing on my PS3 (assuming it came out on ps3).

I love games like age of Empires and seeing my civilisation advance through the ages so I think I should like civilisation games... Once I've got my head around them.

You might also like to play a less detailed civilisation building game first. The Civ series is complicated and it's meant to be because it's very detailed.

I enjoyed "Glory of the Roman Empire" and "Imperium Romanum" (its sequel). They're far, far simpler than the Civ series. You could probably get them legitimately for pennies now. Might be worth a look. IIRC, I paid £2 for both of them. I was genuinely pleased when the inhabitants of the town I'd built were finally pleased enough with my governership to present me with a gift of a fine riding horse :)

I stopped at Cex on the way home and got imperium romanum for 50p so definitely worth a shot!

I also got Quake 3 plus expansion and Unreal Anthology for £7 so it's got some competition for my attention :p
