What cleaner do you use for matte / textured protection?

I need something I can look after my exhausts with (Arrow 3-2 under-seat on Speed Triple).

Wax wouldn't do a very good job as that's obviously supposed to fill gaps/smooth stuff out, so no good for matte like my exhaust. Parts of my frame are also matte.

I could just use Elbow Grease or some other cleaner, but am looking for a layer of protection and something to buff them nicely. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I used Swissvax on the matte parts of my 'Matt Graphite' Street Triple R. 6 months after application it still beeded the water and the paintwork still looked showroom condition. Best product I've ever used. (Most expensive too :o)

As for the exhaust are you talking about the titanium finish on the exhaust can itself?

Yeah, just the titanium finish on the exhaust, it is matte colour, but obviously not the same as matte, so not sure what cleaner would work?

Not sure I can bring myself to spend £30-odd on some cleaner! Although I have heard good things about SwissVax :p

wd40 is good for matte surfaces, bit of a wipe over with a clean cloth

True, that would work, but was after something that would give me a bit of a show room finish which I don't think WD40 would, especially after it rains once! Maybe it'll give ACF50 a try as that does add a layer of protection, although not sure how good it'd look over time.

I'm after something to 'shine' them up really rather than just clean. The rest of my bike looks so good after a clean and wax, but can't quite get the finish I want on my exhausts at the moment, so am after something made for matte.

any picture of the exhaust/black parts you wanna protect?

whatever you put on there will get burnt off soon as it gets hot anyway

The carbon fibre endcaps on the exhaust you can wax polish those if you wanted, the rest of the exhaust just wash clean with soapy water and once dry a wipe with wd40,I used to do mine like that once in a while,it removes any tar spots or flung chain oil off them

Yeah, I can get a proper good shine on the carbon fibre, love doing that bit with wax :D

Yep, WD40 for those arrows is the best thing you can use.

Ok, thanks both, will give WD40 a go and see how it comes out :)

For anyone interested, I just used ACF 50 in the end, brings them our brilliantly. One tiny squirt on a cloth and apply that way, they look good all week plus of course the benefit of protection!
