what codecs do I need

Hi,

Just wondering what codecs I need to run films and audio on my PC.
My friend advised to download a vista codec pack as I have vista.

However I am using the Div x codecs from their website and evething works fine.

Can someone give me some advise please?

Hello jmahoney, the Vista Codec Package is fantastic and well worth getting. You could also download the VLC Player which should play pretty much all file formats around.

I use cccp too. I hav'nt had to search for a codec since i got it and media player classic is great.

i find ffdshow does everything i need on xp

it's what i use on vista. it's played everything i've thrown at it so far.

VLC is excellent, although I had major issues getting a VC1 WMV HD movie file to play in VLC without stuttering. Played fine in WMP / Winamp though, seemingly just an issue with VLC.
