I am looking to replace our ageing, and expensive, HP 950C all-in-one inkjet.

The household print less than a dozen colour pages a quarter (currently) though this can vary and some months may yield a higher output.

Scanning is used more often for both photos and mixed picture/text documents.

I am looking at going Laser over Ink as ink carts tend to run out/dry up or block over time and I don't want to have to keep worrying about blocked print heads etc. . I'm also looking for a printer that has good complatible support (toner refil, reset chip) so that I don't have to sell my first born when I need replace a colour.

Prefer to have a networked device if possible though USB only wouldn't be the end of the world.

Any help in picking out a printer is appreciated.

Could you stomach going to a scanner and a separate colour laser printer? Or is that a horrible concept?

Saying that, my parents have a samsung colour laser all-in-one which had a lan connection. It's about 2 years old now but set us back about £280. I'll look up the model when I'm able (pm me if I haven't replied by tomorrow)

Separate devices are not out of the question. Desk space isn't a problem. One downside is the loss of a 'one touch' copy function that All-In-One's offer. I personally would be able to work round this but some of my family members are slightly less technical and the more steps you introduce to a process, the more problems that are likely to occur.
