I'm ripping out my old wardrobes as they are old, battered and serve no purpose, a bit like Denise Welch.

I'm, or rather my Dad, is building a combined wardbrobe/desk unit and I was wondering what colour wood to use. I was thinking black, then wondered whether it would clash badly with the brown colour of the carpet.

Can you have a look and tell me what colour you think would suit . Anything you reckon, black, beech, birch, mahogany, pine?

Also, what is a good program to mock up a sketch of what the design?

Thanks

I'm an oak man myself.

I have included a sample in my post of what I believe to be a perfectly matched colour gathered from extended analysis of your room.

Here it is

also, cant really base what colour your unit is to be solely based on your carpet. whats the rest of your room's colour scheme

Decided on walnut I think. Will look pretty classy.

Quite expensive, but my Dad's going to go along to Travis Perkins and see how much the MDF walnut veneer sheets are.
