What combo of clients?

Hi all,

I have been running the GPU client on my 8800GT for a week now but was wondering if I'm missing out on ppd by leaving my CPU relatively inactive?

Should I be running an SMP client too?

Cheers
Steevo

im running vista and my smp client only pulls about 230 ppd :(
Are you sure the cleint is running in SMP mode, as that doesn't sound right at all. I dont know the the exact numbers off hand, but I'm sure my Vista rig gets 1500 to 1800 minimum with two GPU clients running along side.

EDIT: Just noticed your signature, and I'm assuming your referring to the E6600 @ 3.3Ghz. I've not tested that specifically, so may be off on the above comment, but 230 still seems low.

Yeah its the E6600 at 3.3..

And i seem to have a nasy one on the GPU right now, usually sits about 4500ish!

CPU never seen sit more than a few 100's :(

Amber's are not SMP WU's.

What Client / Core combination are you running and how did you configure your client? Your on Core_82 or something like that right?

Post your log file so we can see how it's starting up, but I'm farily certain your not in an SMP configuraiton or your in a Standard Windows GUI / CLI client mode.

EDIT: Just FYI, my 2 E6600's hit about 1500 PPD in Linux SMP at 2.4Ghz ( I think, it's been a while since I looked actually). Post your info, and we'll get you sorted.

Sounds like you're not using the -smp flag in the shortcut to start the client. If you're not it'll just start as a single-core console client and a few hundred PPD would be about right.

Well i guess this is good enough... its still doing its thing!

I dont know what the transmit problem is, but this is what you want to be on for a client, believe your running Vista-32. Post the transmit error on the Stanford Forums or check their server status page for that IP address.

Windows 6.22-SMP-MPICH

I believe there is a 6.23 public beta for this client as well.

Follow the Stanford SMP Install guide, it's pretty descent these days:

Install Thread

Install Link for MPICH

NOTE: I've not tried the Service Installation, but I've seen a number of posts where things can get sticky on Vista, so that bit is up to you.

[EDIT]:
Server Status:
171.64.65.111 is in Reject Mode.
171.67.108.17 should be accepting

Thanks for that mate :D

I scrapped the old smp slient (renamed it as i want to send those results) and installed and setup using the links you gave :)

It appears to be running... watched it launch in cmd and all started up ok!

Will give it a wee bit before i fahmon it to see how its doing :)

Here's the link info for the Public 6.23r1 Beta Client. All you do is shut down the client, download the new fah6.exe and fire it back up again.

Pande Group Info on the Client:
We are releasing new SMP clients to public beta. These clients feature improved handling of early unit ends.
Drop-in replacement binaries are available at:
http://www.stanford.edu/~kasson/folding/linux/fah6 for linux
http://www.stanford.edu/~kasson/folding/osx/fah6 for OS X
http://www.stanford.edu/~kasson/folding ... 32-x86.exe for Windows (either MPICH or Deino)

Installers will follow. These clients expire on February 2, 2009. We will likely release non-expiring versions for Linux and OSX, reflecting the more mature state of those clients, in the near future.

Please post comments/feedback/bug reports in the appropriate SMP forums.
