What connection (hdmi etc) should i use for 120hz

Just picked up the Asus VG278HE 27" TRUE 144Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor which was in the b-grade section for £240 (hope it's ok).

I remember reading somewhere that for a monitor to run at 120hz you had to use a certain cable, i think it was display port?

Anyway i'm sure you lovely people are more in the know than i am and will correct me if i'm wrong :)
 
depends on your graphics card support and what the monitor offers as well. Monitors aimed at NVIDIA users (for NVIDIA 3D etc) generally come with dual-link DVI interfaces, to match what NIVIDA graphics cards tend to have,. monitors designed for AMD cards generally have DisplayPort instead, again to match AMD cards output
