What connection is this?

Hi all,
I own a Acer Predator 4k2k XB280HK 28" G-Sync Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor!
Wife is now bring laptop home from work. It small so need a monitor to work on, which will be this one. Now i only 1 x connection port which i thought was a HDMi! it not and looking on the web it says just 1 x display port. But does not say what type! Unless a display port is a connector type?
Can anyone tell me what type of connector this monitor used please need to know to tell the IT guys to get her a cable from her laptop to thisd montior.

DisplayPort is a connection type so you’d need s DisplayPort output on the laptop ideally to be able to connect to that screen. Some laptops have a Mini DisplayPort interface and you can then use a cable which has mini DP at one end and a normal DP at the other in to the monitor

DisplayPort and HDMI are easily converted with an appropriate cable/dongle though

Am I right in thinking that a display port cannot send an audio signal like a HDMI port can ?

No.

No guarantee that the device has it implemented though.

DP can send the whole HDMI protocol including audio but as above there might be a gotcha. I have a Startech DP hub which doesn't do audio but a few DP-HDMI cables from the same company that do
