What convertible?

So after my first experience in a convertible car last week (albeit in sunny Cyprus), I stupidly think I want one! Obviously to take advantage of the 2 summer days us British folk get...

I have always wanted an MX5 after reading the reviews of it being a cheap and extremely fun car to drive. But my all time favourite convertible is the Honda S2000, and I am fully aware that it will probably be double the price of the Mazda to run and buy.

So if you had circa £4k what convertible would you buy? I'm not fussed if it's a 2 seater or if there are seats in the back. I will most likely have a 2nd car for practical use

I'd not be wanting the risk of what might happen or has happened to a £4k s2000 that you have no prior knowledge of. Yet the variety of MX-5's you can have on that budget is massive, so it's only one car for me.

Yeh I really like the Euphonic trim. Lovely interior and really like the wheels.

This example is mint.

They look great, the colour combination works very well with the 5's shape, very nice car.

Only if you're a complete plank, to be fair!

I dunno, i'm not that plank like but still managed to get mine sideways due to some catseyes whilst overtaking, done similar tricks in my mates Nevada with no dramas. However you could argue that overtaking in the damp isn't the best of ideas :p

I agree. Grey is my personal favourite colour, and with the black roof it looks stunning, and the red seats set it off for me!

Now I must begin to convince myself to part with my beloved ST!

Would love to own an MX-5, but need space in the back :( I'd give my ST up in a heartbeat if I could!

Currently I don't require back seats, but if/when the need arises I would just get a £2k mondeo/focus. By that time, I will probably have my own house and 26mpg hot hatches will be a thing of the past anyhow :(

I would have the s2000 if I could insure one, especially as a second car. But I would want to spend at least 6k on one.

I just cannot get on with the looks of the MX5.
