What coolants are you using and which do you think is currently the best?

Just wondering what everyone is using and if there's anything new that performs better someone knows of. Trying to decide what to use in my next build

£1.50 2.5l bottle of ASDA or Tesco deionized car water and Mayhems biocide/inhibitor

IMO, don't faff about with overpriced mixes/colours, keep it simple and keep it cost effective.

Using DP Ultra, as I have Aquacomputer kit and that's what their stuff is primarily calibrated around.
I could probably DIY some stuff for cheaper, as per their specifications, but I don't have the time to faff.

Finding anywhere with DP Ultra in stock is hard I'm finding. The only place I could find was German shops. Which would take 4 - 5 days to deliver when I could get XT-1 Nuke next day. Overclockers doesn't stock XT-1 Nuke clear premix or DP Ultra.

Just got to shop around.
I found 2L for £16 back in 2021, on the rainforest.

EK stuff is OK and will work fine most of the time, but AC flow sensors won't work with it as (IIRC) the glycol content is too high. Sometimes you can alter the sensor parameters if you know the exact spec of the fluid, but again you're talking faff... which is precisely the reason why some enthusiasts get AC kit, I know, but I have other things to be getting on with.

That's why Aqua Computer wont share their data formula to input.

I wouldn't touch EK fluids to be honest. There is a reason why known enthusiasts that know their stuff brands EK's fluids toilet water. Its quality is known as river water.

I must be blind. I'm looking on the English part of their forum and don't see High Flow Next 2 coolant topics...

There's a big long product thread on there, plus others in German which you can read just by running the site through Google Translator.

"The second sensor in the list shows the current flow rate. The high flow NEXT comes with a set of predefined calibration curves for different hose diameters and coolants for very high accuracy. The flow rate can be displayed either in liters or gallons per hour, but if necessary, the flow rate can be calibrated manually".
So basicaly select your coolant from the list, add in other parameters like fitting diameter and that should be all you need for the HF Next. You can play with the offsets if you like, same as with the quality sensors, which is advisible if using EK fluids which tend to have highly conductive additives and higher glycol content (40% or more, I think).

Used Mayhems for ages, no issues. Only when tried one of their solid colours, which has been withdrawn from sales, I had issues. The particles would deposit within minutes of the system being off. Pain to clean every block and radiators.
Went with EK solid white and no issues. Blocks and reservoir clean as new.

If it's long, link me please. Is it a sticky or buried deep in their forum?

I'm using EK Cryfuel indigo purple as it's a themed build. Seems to work well, but it's only been running for a few weeks

Had the same stuff in my system for a touch over 3 years now, never done anything to the loop itself. The it all still looks good, no nastiness I can see in the blocks, and performance is still as it was so I'm happy with that.

It's kinda spread out throught the conversation, really. Bits and pieces added as different people ask questions, and others follow that up with other questions.
Most of it is around the Quality sensor side, and how DP Ultra has very low conductivity that increases as it degrades, whereas Mayhems ones tend to be the complete opposite and show insanely high conductivity, which then reduces as their fluid degrades... This is where you manually set the calibrations to offset the differences between DP Ultra or distilled + additives, versus other manufacturer's fluids.
They intermixed this with conversations about flow rates, although I believe the HF Next does already have presets for most of the widely used liquids...? I use a D5 Next for flow monitoring myself, which you calibrate by stopping the flow and then running it open, presumably to establish a baseline min/max.

Stopping the flow is rather hard with hard tubing. Sadly there are no presets for liquids, except Aqua Computer's own. Only conductive values to alter. If one knows the values.

Stopping the flow is usually done with a simple ball valve on hard tubing.
Presets should be in Aquasuite under Highflow NEXT, Sensors, Flow...

I guess if you had any quieries regarding a specific coolant, you could always start a thread on their forum...
