Hi all,

I have an intel i5 2550k 1155 socket processor currently using the supplied cooler.

I'm thinking of overclocking, can anyone recommend a decent cooler, preferrably quiet?

Thanks

Andy

A few Q's if you dont mind,

• Budget
• What case do you have
• What RAM do you have

Hi Stulid,

Sorry, its a Thermaltake Soprano RS101 case and i have 2x 4GB Corsair vengeance RAM.

Not too fussed on price but work on approx £60?

Thanks

Ah, with RAM that tall a closed loop water cooler would be a sensible idea, such as a Kuhler620/Corsair H60

Thanks guys,

Will probably go with the H60, not used water cooled before but looks quite easy to install and will make a big difference.

Thanks

Andy

I am now going with the H100 which is only a bit more at £76.99. If you case will take a double rad?

Currently using the above cooler which I think is really great value for money!

Does a great job!

If you really want a closed loop water cooler but cant fit a 240 rad , i would go for the Antec 920 bit expensive at the moment but far better than the other's , a bit noisy on stock fans but includes a good software package that can help with fan noise, or swap out the stock fans at more expense, if not i would stick with air and remove the tall heatsinks off your ram its not really needed.

Yeah the case only has space for a single rear fan.

has anyone experienced any issues with any of these coolers? Does the Antec 920 have a mount to go on the back of the mobo?

cheers

No experience with either of these. But units like it! Intel trialed one years back. Use coolit systems ones as well. Most use a back plate and the pump screws down into that.

Antec has a thicker rad and higher airflow fans so would work a tad better than the corsair. But its a fair bit above your orignal budget. I would say the H60 will do just fine!

I have juts ordered my Ivy Bridge kit and included is the Corsair H80 cooler. I'll be building on Friday so can report back then.

My case is rather tight for space, Coolermaster Storm, so the closed loop system is the only thing that will fit and, hopefully, keep my new CPU cool.
