What cordless phone setup should I go with?

I am looking to buy a new cordless phone setup (two phones, one base unit with answering machine). I would love to hear some opinions on what's hot and whats not in this area.

Keeping below £100 I have found the Panasonic KX-TG8222EB.

A little reading has lead me to beleive that panasonic are very good, and the above looks like a good choice.

(I thought I would post in this area where phone savvy people hang around)

Thanks for the reply. I too agree with the BT thing. We have been using the BT Synergy 2150 twin set and after about a year the phone has started to answer itself occaisionally after one ring. This is one of the main reasons for changing.

Tried Binatone too, had a terrible screen (couldn't fit a whole phone number on one line). Poor range.

Finally got the Panasonic KXTG7122ES, which i have no problems with. It has much better range than the other two, loud ringer.

Ah, good, good. How are the ringtones on the Panasonic's? 2 nice features I am looking out for is that the ring emits from the handsets at a good audiable level, and the ability to listen to messages on the handset rather then having to go to the base unit. Any comments on these and Panasonic?

EDIT: I have just reviewed the pdf manual for the phone and it looks as though it supports ringing on handsets and listening to massages on the handsets.

Further reply's are still welcome, even if they are reviewing a totally different make.

Thanks for the reply's. I think I shall be going with the Panasonic's described at the start, I am sure they carry the mentioned features through onto newer models. Cheers Brum Man for actually physically checking those bit's out. Much abliged!

Just a little question. I noticed that these phones support the SMS service. My question is this:

How can I activate it and will it cost more money then just sending messages (i.e receiving them and / or a monthly ammout)?

Those with this service and BT, please explain...

Phone package is with BT. I know the ISP wouldent have an impact at all. Just wondering what I have got to go through with BT to have the SMS function available on my line and what it will cost.
