What could be causing display faults during some games?

Hi all,

Not had much game time since buying this MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition card, but I have noticed a few problems today.

Crysis 3 seems in general to run fine, but on a couple of sessions I got a lot of white and lines type stuff on most of the screen that got in the way of gaming, had similar, but streaks, and a few glitches such as graphics freezing on WoT.

Still to work out if the WoT is due to a mod though.

I am wondering if it is a faulty card or due to it being an old system, but it is also the 1st time I have seen such.

Could not seem to grab a screen shot, maybe I should use some third party software? If any is recommended?

System as in my sig.

AMD released a general video on graphical corruption which may be worth looking at to see if any of the points are applicable for you.

If you are running overclocks (CPU or RAM), it may be worth setting it to stock and see if that resolves the problem.

Otherwise, I would assume that it is a problem with the MSi 7950. I have seen on these forums that they have been having a few problems with their AMD 7900 cards of late. It may be worth RMAing and getting a 7950 from a different brand. I really doubt that the problem is becuase you are using a Conroe (E8000) platform.

I hope you can solve the problem.

I have everything running stock. So it is not OC'ing that is causing this. And it seems to be rare, only occasional, tried revisiting the same spot in game and it did not happen.

I will enable image capture and video on MSI AB and see if I get lucky.

None of the problems in the above link show what I saw.

Not tried different drivers, though no one else has reported driver problems.

Had alsorts of random glitches with my MSI 7950

Different looking things in different games, Need for Speed the sky and other vehicles liked to glitch, Crysis Warhead it was usually the weird alien things. Bioshock Infinite I just used to get random square patches. Oh original Crysis I would get quite a lot of white.."bits" and dots/streaks

In the end It went back to ocuk who confirmed it was bust, took my refund and bought a replacement HIS model, no problems since!

They got some weird QC issues them MSI card's which is a shame because my 6950 was flawless.

Sounds like it might be similar to how mine was (brand new, stock clocks)
