What could be causing this?

I went to turn on kids PC today and the fans and hard drive start up and then power down then back up again and stays on but monitor or keyboard doesn't light up.

Anyone know what's the most likely cause?

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
Q6600
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2
BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC2 512MB GDDR3
Hiper 580W

I would point to the mobo, is it a new build?

Maybe the power supply's gone, those Hiper ones have a tendency to break

Built it at christmas and not had any problems accept for having to return the BFG.

Don't the P35 chipsets have the tendancy to double boot? My IP35 does, but everything turns on after the second boot.

I'm figuring it's either going to be the motherboard or PSU, It's going to be a right pain if it is the mobo, re-installing and all that

indeed i had a hiper psu had same thing you are having, but soon as i changed the psu all fine again

OK

I've gone through testing each individual component and I'm going to need a new motherboard and memory

My guess is the motherboard went down and took the memory with it, well 1 x 1GB of Ballastix. (still have 1 working stick)

So any suggestions on a cheap and cheerful Motherboard and 2GB of Ram. I'ts not going to be clocked or anything like that.
