What could cause this?

I cant reinstall windows i have like 800gb worth of stuff on this HD that i need.

They never replied to the refund message i sent them, and nope i need 250 messages and 3 months of forum activity for free delivery?

I know i dont think it can be the card either but if the 285 works and this doesnt then i cant say its not the card for certain either, so its best to swap to make 100% sure, im not satisfied with it.

Do as Rusty suggested and do a non-destructive reinstall...

It says it doesnt effect other software or profiles, so i dunno if its even worth doing?

I scan all the windows registry and made sure everything was fine, all the windows files are intact.

I dont think the reinstall of 7 takes long does it? I maybe try but like i said i doubt it will fix it if its a driver problem anyways.

You should never be in a position where you can't reinstall windows. Do regular backups of your stuff or you could get wiped out by a virus, faulty HDD or even a GPU problem.

Do a backup and reinstall windows, it might even speed your system up a bit.

I would never accept paying postage to return an item which has been delivered faulty. If a year or so down the line it develops a fault then fair game... but not that.

I may buy an external HD and back up or maybe a sata 3 and just use the old as storage?

I know ill ask 5UB tomoz see what he says.

I know this is how i feel i dont see why i should pay £10 for postage after 1 day of having the card then RMA.

I maybe buy a 500gb sata 3 what do you recommend? Seagate or WD? I dont like noisy ones btw lol, i have a samsung atm and its nice and quiet most of the time. I only have a sata 2 MB though this is why i was holding out since i wont benefit from the sata 3 performance.

I would buy SATA3 and move it over to anther system when/if you upgrade.

Before doing a fresh install of OS, I would Uninstall all drivers (AMD/Nvidia) and you could use driver sweeper before installing latest drivers again (Restart after using sweeper then install drivers). Having AMD/Nvidia drivers on OS at the same time can/will cause problems.

Maybe run in safe mode and see if theres any change, if there is - you're having driver conflicts or maybe even hardware (Could try also update MB BIOS).

Could humidity be effecting your monitor? I don`t know - troubleshooting isn't fun all the time :)

Well ill look into a new hd i shouldn't have to really for a gpu upgrade! But if cheap i will.

Nope its on a desk nowhere near my windows stone dry and the old cards do not do this so its this card for sure.

Well ive just been playing shogun 2 and its going under 20 fps so i think this card is faulty. In skyrim it says 60fps but theres a lot of jerkyness its not very smooth.

Hmm BF3 was ok last night max settings but again like skyrim its got a weird stiffness to it.

I think ill send monday and just buy a new brand. Is the MSI one just as silent as the Gigabyte one?

Delete drivers, boot into safe mode and run driver sweeper to delete any remnants of AMD and old nVidia drivers on your system and then install the latest AMD drivers. There is a possibility of driver conflicts which can be causing certain problems. I know you said in other thread that you don't trust driversweeper??? but thousands of people use it and have had zero problems, myself included. You might think you are good at removing and editing registry entries, but are you 100% certain that you have properly removed all traces of the previous drivers? The only ways to be absolutely certain are to use a program like driver sweeper or doing a clean windows install.

@ Five.Stars, if you read up on driver sweeper it doesnt do anything you cant do manually in regedit, infact regedit is better. Im starting to be positive its not a driver issue.

On boot up before anything happens the screen blinks as if to refresh the card its weird, happens each boot. Although im not sure if AMD cards do this?

Anyways ive made up my mind ill send back monday and get an MSI version, just hope its still on deal! If i order 2 components do i pay delivery twice?

Ok ive just placed a new order for the MSI 7850 TF along with a new HD.

I dont think it was driver issues because im trying to force the problems with my 285 now, i have left all AMD drivers on my pc and theres no problems at all.

I still havent had a refund for the first RMA yet and asked twice now, hopefully they will reply monday?

Also when i took out the 7850 it had scratches on the card, i know they wont damage anything but it shows its not NEW. Check this vid out, its hard to see them all but the light shows some of them.

Yeah twice now, ive left a long post today so hopefully they read it monday.

I buying a new HD too! I shouldnt have to as i know its the cards fault not my PC but just to make 100% sure this time.

Its really had me stressed these last 2 weeks, i know deep down the 2nd card was not NEW!

Last night in shogun it was hitting under 20 fps in dx9 mode for christ sake even the 285 keeps above 30.

If all goes well ill have new card and HD tuesday, full refund of postage and old card and a working PC!!!

Also ive noticed something, my order total was £206 but OCUK charge £210? With postage refunded £200 ill be happy with for a new card and HD, also a sata cable ;)

Fingers crossed everything will be fine with the MSI card.

Also do you think ill notice a difference in the HDD? I know im limited to sata 2 speeds but it should be faster then an old sata 2?
