I want to drop some cash on a cpu tonight, and I was wondering what cpu you guys would reccomend for 7600gt sli?

Currently I have athlon 64 3000+ installed oc'd to 2.2 ghz which seems to be the roof and I havent noticed any improvement from a single 7600gt.

Im looking for a socket 939 a64 and want to save as much money as possible.

3700+ or depending on budget an X2 3800 or 4400

i would go for the 3700 myself as they are great clockers if you get a good stepping and have you thought about ditching the SLI and going for one more powerfull card like a 7900GT or an X1800 series

so a 3700+ at its stock speed of 2.2 ghz would provide enough power for my sli setup?

You might want to have a look for a cheap 3800 X2, Nvidias drivers make some use of dual core, and you get a small performance boost with an SLI setup.

I was assuming youd overclock like you did your previous cpu. at stock it wouldnt make much difference from your current cpu @2.2ghz

2 7600gt's are better than a 7800 (not sure what version) by about 20%

Sorry but this simply isn't true unless you're using a resolution like 1600x1200 or higher. It might be that you're not using a high enough resolution to notice the difference when adding another card, not limitation by your CPU. What res are you using?
