What cpu for Unreal 2007??

Hi guys

just seen the specs for UT 2007 and it seems very heavy on the CPU, specs range from 2.5 - 4ghz, my question is how does the AMD 64bit chips fit into this as ghz doesn't quite add up when running applications as my 3000+ is able to run stuff far higher than a 1.8ghz cpu.

Any ideas would be cool

They normally quote Intel-based clockspeeds, so your chip will be ~3Ghz on their scale.

I wouldn't like to be on less than 2.5Ghz of AMD64 for Unreal 2007 though...

Depends on your cooling and RAM really. I wouldn't fancy my chances with a 3000+ though...

Should be ok if its overclocked, my old one did 2.5Ghz on stock volts

I had two which did 2.9 Ghz and two which did 2.5 - 2.6 Ghz

(3000+ Venice socket 939 anyway)

I expect it will be multi-threaded as well /goes and buys a dual-core

I was thinking of an x2 chip but will i suffer when running single thread games??

Depends which one you get, I mean the FX60 is 2 x 2.6 ghz 1mb cache, so its gonna rock even in single threaded games. Equally, the higher x2s will be fine. the 3800 pverclocks great anyway.

I'm betting on the X2 chips for UT'07, it's s'posed to be multithreaded - only time will tell though, hoping the 4800 will cut it.
