Hi,

I have these spare parts,

Gigabyte EP45-DS3P
Sapphire Toxic 1gb 4870
4Gb (2x2Gb) Corsair PC-6400
Scythe Kama Angle cooler
Silverstone L13 case

And I need a PSU a hard drive and a CPU

Trying to keep costs down, but have been wondering if a 1Tb is faster than a 500gb model? But what brand? What capacity? The Samsung F3's seem favored?

I am tempted to spend a little extra on the PSU and get a Seasonic 650w modular? But BeQuite have a new 580w modular?

I am not sure it's worth spending too much on a CPU, I am tempted with the E6300 as it seems to be a reasonable overclocker? Though the Q8200 seems good value?
I had thought of the Q9550 but I am building a new PC around a newer quad core after Xmas.

Any advice?

Cheers

Re the HDD, it makes little difference tbh
PSU theyre all good makes
CPU largely depends on what you want to do with the PC, if its purely gaming go for a dual core, if you do encoding/any other cpu intensive stuff then try n get a quad

I am very tempted to wait it out for the Seasonic due to it being very queit and very efficient.

I will probably just go for the Samsung F3 1tb as its one of the better looking prices and I guess the 32bit versus 16bit is worth having.

Still undecided with the CPU.

I would like to play games like GTA and Supreme Commander, plus C&C titles and such.

Maybe using it as a media PC, music blue ray and dvd, most music and DVD will be stored inside.

I am thinking the E6300 overclocked is the sensible option, but my silly side wonders if I would be better off with a better CPU?

This PC is going to replace the old PC in my signature, until some time after Xmas as I plan to build either a Media PC or better gaming PC.
