What current generation Nvidea cards are comparable to my 780ti

I can tell you now, as an owner of the GTX Titan Black, which is roughly a touch faster and more viable due to the X2 increase in VRAM, your GTX 780Ti probably trades blows with a 1060, 970, and RX480.

Depending on the game as experienced with my graphics card you should see similar results. My GPU is liquid cooled though so my boost clocks go to 1120MHz.
 
Don't do much gaming these day (chideren) but noticed last couple of games (batman/fallout) were not able to run at ultra settings maxed out which has been the first time a game hasn't been able to run balls out since I got the card which is depressing since it cost over 500 quid :(. But like you said I think its lack of VRAM is the cause of it as I also have it under water so there is no thermal throttling going on.

Was worried you were going to say it performs as well as a 100 quid card!!
