What damage have I done?

Was pushing my bike down the yard last night, where I knocked the gear lever and knocked it out of neutral, I didn't have the clutch lever pulled in, before I could pull it, it kept moving for a bit then became harder to push and stopped until I pulled the clutch lever, as it should. Now there seems to be a repetative wooshing noise and a small thumping coming from the bike at low speed, I haven't noticed if this noise is there when it's just on tickover, will check later tonight, just wondering could this be gear damage or just the quicker and cheaper fix of clutch damage?

Whats the bike for one?

Pushing it along in gear should not damage anything, especially not the gearbox, clutch possibly because of the drag but not from just a few feet.

When was the bike last run and whats the oil level etc?
How slack is the chain?
 
i dont think youve done any damage,maybe a tight spot in your chain that you didnt notice before? that will make an odd noise

Yamaha YZF-R125.

Oil level is correct, as I was pushing it in to do an oil change. I did tighten the chain as it was slightly slack, but I haven't overtightened it as there's still an acceptable amount of slack on it, will double check the chain tonight though, maybe back it off and take it for a ride.

lol no damage at all unless your gear box is made of plasticine which it is not I would think the noise was there to begin with.

At a guess as mentioned above tight spot would point to the wooooshing not sure about the thumping tho.

Did you check the chain tension at multiple points, i.e. check tension, turn rear wheel 1/2 rotation check again etc..etc.? If you have stiff links in the chain then tensioning it at it's loosest point means it can be way too tight at it's tightest point. This will cause a regular "thumping" noise as the bike is moving and you can usually feel it through the frame as well.
 
As above I would check the chain all over, get your head down and look down the chain from the back looking towards the sprocket end and see if anything comes a bit higher than the rest, the clunking does sound like it could be chain issue and the whoosing can sometimes be front sprocket/gearbox whine if too tight.
Also whats the slack like on your clutch lever??
 
Haven't had a chance to get on the bike, will try at 16:00 today, clutch lever felt normal when I was riding it the other day, acceleration wasn't any different either.
 
Knocking your bike into gear whilst pushing it will have done zero damage, because bikes are built to take far worse than that from every gear mashing, boot wearing, mechanically unsympathetic, lead footed chimp the world over.
 
I would not call it a "thumping" sound more like a thud than a thump lol that is what threw me.

Seems to have been a tight spot on the chain, I take it I must have tightened it while it was at its slackest point, just with knocking it in to gear while pushing it along I thought it might have been related as it didnt sound or feel good lol. Are tight spots usually a bad sign and that maybe it's time to change chain and/or sprockets? I'll obviously take it off in the winter and check to see if its stretched and if the sprockets have worn.
 
youll be fine imo,just annoying if its a bad one,just remember to find the tight spot and adjust chain to suit,aslong as you keep it lubed up itll be ok
