Probably write off your car.

Yea whats more worrying is that it probably would have seriously injured me as well?, being that i guess i would have taken out its legs and it gone straight into my windscreen?

Fortunately that didn't happen to my grandad. He was fine from it, but it did hit part of the windscreen, the bonnet took the brute of the force.

A fully grown one would seriously injure your car at 60mph.

I hit one at 30mph, it caused several thousands of pounds damage. But I survived, and the impact wasnt that bad. (car didnt even look that damaged)

At 60mph it would have been a lot worse. The police on the phone actually sounded concerned when I rang them, and the officers that attended thought I had been really lucky.

To make matter worse, my Gran was in the car :(

Edit* The front impact bar took a lot of the force, but luckily the deer slid right up the bonnet into the air and landed on the roof.

well my cars only worth about 400 so at least it couldnt have caused several thousand pounds worth :p

I was also pretty scared at least one more was going to jump out after it as they usually hang around in groups :/

Over 75% of the vehicles written off to the scrappy in Minnesota are due to deer strikes.

And when you consider the percentage of vehicles that are trucks, that's a scary thought.

I mean, I've knocked a tree over with my truck before and there's not a sign of me doing it. But if I hit a deer with it, there's a 99% chance it'll never move under its own power again.

Everyone had the same thing when they saw my Toyota Tercel wagon for the first time. "Don't ever hit a deer with it, you'll be a dead man if you do."

I went to look at a Geo Metro (Suzuki Swift) that hit a deer at 45mph. The front wheels were pointing inwards at 45 degrees each, the engine was split in two, the bonnet was accordianed on to the dashboard, the steering wheel was only 10 inches from the driver's seat, and the power steering pump was hanging out the front of the car. Luckily the girl driving made Piggymon look huge, because she was able to slide out from between the steering wheel and the seat still. She was severely battered by the airbag, though. She got lucky.

You don't really want to hit a deer with a car. It makes for a REALLY bad day.

Oh, and that's a Dodge Durango. A V-8 full sized SUV that's slightly bigger than a Discovery.....

I have not hit anything the size of a deer yet but have hit a few wallabys/kangaroos on the road with no damage to my Landcruiser. Thankfully here most cars seem to have bull bars made from girders. They say if you are out on the open road and hit a full sized 'Roo in a car without a bullbar then you get your spade and dig 2 holes. One for the Roo and one for the car.

my dad wrote off my old ax gti when he his a dear... its wrote off the car :(

but alas my old man is still in once piece. :)

the car was seriously messed up! totaly wrote off....
