I think a desk is a more "Personal Choice" item. You buy the desk that best suits your purpose.

My old desk is just really basic but thats all it needs to be, you might need extra compartments that others dont need :)

Heh, my "desk" is actually a chunky style dining room table - plain beech top, four thick cylindrical chrome legs.

Any specific computer/office desks that were within my budget, were simply too puny to hold my 22" CRT :D

Custom made using kitchen work surface and ikea legs/PC holders! :D The only cost-effective solution for me to setup two PCs for gaming and office use. Total cost was around £90 but gives me loads of space :)

It's a very personal choice so go with what you feel comfortable with. I personally like everything to be on the same level (monitor, keyboard and mouse) for ergonomics.

Would agree very much a personal choice item.

Only advise I would give is to think about what you want to put on, in and under before you buy.

Too late after to realise e.g no room to work and use comp., not enough room underneath for sub.,not enough drawers for stuff to go in etc (Been there, done that:()

depends what you really need out of it, i have a very standard large topped wooden desk, because i need lots of desk space.

I've got 2 standard office desks, normal beech finish and 2 side drawer cabinets although in all honesty you can never have enough desk space.

i understand its personal and ive got a good idea on which i will buy now, im jsut stuck for space so hard to choose.if my door was a foot further from the wall id jsut buy a full length kitchen top !!!! go from one end to the other

I cut my kitchen worksurface down from 3m to 2.4m to fit it into my room :) It's not a difficult job (not as difficult as lifting it up a flight of stairs on my own! :P)

I have 2 corner desks connected by a couple of cupboards from a well know high street catalogue store that could be consider a competitor as they sell a few PC items.....

All was well until I discovered that they didn't come with end panels... ooops .... the cupboard joints were fine but I had to visit a local DIY superstore and by some beach conti board to make side panels for the two ends !
