What Digital Camera - £250 Max.

Hey guys,

I’m in the market for a digital camera, until now I’ve always been able to pinch my parents, but they’re on holiday right now so I’m stumped

I just need it for general purpose picture taking. I’ve got a tight budget of £250.

What can you all recommend? I know absolutely nothing about digital cameras btw

Canon Powershot A620? Can be had for £158.61 and is meant to be very good.

I always like the Canon S series better than the A series.

The Canon S80 is a little out of your budget but the S70 is perfect, check it out.

Canon Ixus 800 IS just scrapes in under budget at £240, add a 512MB SD card for just under £10 and you've got all you'll need.

I've read very good reviews of this camera, there's one at the link below - ignore the SD700IS part as it is called the Ixus 800 IS in Europe

Only just got round to ordering…

In the end I paid £159.99 (delivered) from a well known company named after a famous river

They appear to be one of the few places left that actually have any stock left? I presume that the model is being taken out of production – it only came out last August, but I suppose that’s not bad in the world of technology

I’ve since read a couple more reviews, and everyone reviewing has nothing but praise for this model, I’m really looking to forward to using it now I must say.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys, but they didn’t even come close when it came down to price/specification – I really think £160 is a steal, so get yours quick, while you still can

had mine about 5 weeks and love it, just made a homemade ringflash thingy for it today from a nivea skin cream pot.

allowed me to get f/8 in low light hand held with soft shadows of brian my new pet, a 6mm orb web weaver spider that's been hanging around the kitchen door frame for about 30 hours so far, weird spider.

he's either really lazy or likes his sleep i dunno.
