Hi,

A friend looking at getting a digital camera this christmas which can be between £150-£200. The camera can be refurbed, it will be used in her course which is media production. She is wanting to get the best for the money, so what do you guys suggest?

Not bothered about having a point and shoot. Just to let people know the auto function will not be used at all, so being able to change settings is a must. Roughly 3x optical zoom will do.

Im looking at this aswell, you can have the Canon Powershot A710IS for the top of your budget inc del.

It has auto shoot, but also has fully manual, which would be good for you, and good learning for me.

Seems the best to me (so far) very compact for what it is.

I just picked up a Panasonic LX1 new for £199.

It's pretty easy to use in "manual" modes, with the controls in sensible postions and easy to understand,a lot easier than the other half's e550.

They are end of range now, and are gettting heavy discounts. You'll have to search the web yourself for the dealer as it's a competitor.

Thanks for the replies. :) Now we have just found a refurbed, which she doesn't mind, Kodak P850 for £159.

How does that sound? Apparently it is worth £400 normally...

I got hold of a refurb Canon Powershot S60 for £130 with 1 year warranty great :)

Good choice, the Sx0 series is fantastic, well built with manual controls. Plus it uses the same battery as the 400D I believe, and also the same Compact Flash as well.

I have the S70 myself. :)
