What do BF3 clans do?

I play BF3 casually most evenings... but I often jump back to Counter Strike because I like the fact that it's very "raw" it relies on your ability to aim and listen to your surroundings, it feels very pure to me as a game of skill

I played clan matches etc in Counter Strike and it was fairly obvious from the outset what you were supposed to do... disarm bombs or blow them up

With BF3 I have pondered on how a clan match would happen but I've never really watched one or come accross anyone that plays BF3 clan matches so I am wondering how it works; if the servers settings were left at default it would be mayhem surely?

are there specific settings that get applied during matches? are there limits to vehicles? do clans play the usual rush/conquest type style? do clans therefore spend time designing their squad layouts etc to give them a strategic edge? how do the clan match mechanics work?

If anyone can take the time to answer these questions I would be obliged i am quite interested in playing BF3 in a more structured way than the free for all that happens on the public servers

I'll hazard a guess here, although I'm not 100% certain so don't quote me on this.

Play BF3?

I did read your post just fancied being flippant :D

Their squads work together. To disam/destroy Mcoms etc. The team based communications alone are usually enough to win a match. By all using ts/vent. They can communicate enemy locations and movements. Move on objectives with each others support (rather than lone wolf) deploy smoke etc to screen team movement.

All these small things combined (and more i am sure) will aid a team greatly.

They also have good knowledge of the maps. And which positions can be best pushed from which directions. Rather than a team of random lone wolves just each doing their own thing.

They play BF:3, but it's mainly for squads, competing in things like Euro Domination, going to the i-series which are hosted by Multiplay throughout the year.

yes BF3 is way based on more teamplay now as you also score more points for resupplying, healing and repairing and and other team activities.

I think they put lots of explosives under vehicles and see how far across the map they can make them fly.

thats only when they are not base rapping public people in there own servers and then kicking them because they start to QQ

lol, in the good old days of BF2 when clans actually had a purpose they played matches, practiced or made cool vids for youtube and the like showing real skills.

none of which you can really do in bf3 to any high level.

As for the matches, if it's anything like BF2, I imagine 8v8 is the popular choice for team sizes. 8v8 conquest is where it's at I reckon, although I imagine Rush to be fairly popular for clan matches.

8v8 conquest and 4v4 squad rush are most popular

Edit - Was curious and looked for some 4v4 videos, looks quite fun tbh only 1 MCOM per stage so there's plenty of potential for intense firefights. Gonna try and convince my platoon to have a bash :)

I play CoD4 seriously and would comment that the difference between playing on your own and with a team with communications is vast.

BF3 teams are mainly going to be playing Matches on leagues such as Edom afaik. In terms of the actual sizes and styles of game I m really not sure though.

In terms of the actual depth of tactics I suspect it varies greatly. You will most likely have some anti tank, sniper, medic, support and assault specialised troopers so that you can deal with various problems. How you would choose numbers etc would largely be down to personal preference and map style.

I suspect the league dictates the size, game type, round length etc... Ill google edom and see if I can find rules

8v8 conquest? Any less than 40 players make the maps feel completely barren to me.

I would also assume they would find a way to turn the spotting system off. Seems kind of pointless to have a competitive game with an in-built wallhack.

If it's anything like BF2 the clans just team up on one side on there Own server & play unbalanced games against the public.

Really?

Obviously map dependant but anything above 32 just turns into a spam fest.

Once there's more than 2 players on the server it turns into a spamfest in my eyes. At least on 64 players you spawn into the spamfest instead of having to run for 20 minutes on a smaller server.

Believe it or not, playing with a group of people with voice comms (teamspeak or w/e) is a lot more fun than playing solo, I tend to not even play BF3 without having at least one friend on to play with!

I'm the same. I get bored instantly without someone to work with. 3 mates in 1 squad is perfect. And if the other team is all randoms. You can really achieve a lot and push those victories.

Yeah I dont play unless my ex-EvE corp mates are playing too

I played Countrer Strike in clans and was on ladders and stuff played lots of matche and it was great, I would like to play BF3 in a more planned, organised, strategic way like I did with CS which is why I started this thread

if its 8v8 on a massive map like Firestorm I guese the use of vehicles is mandatory which I suppose is kind of the point of the game.. a mix of land/air vehicles and using them for their intended purpose
