Hi all

I am using ARC from Samsung KU6000 70 inch to an X2300W via HDMI

I have no idea what setting I am supposed to use to output from the TV - PM, Stereo, DTS, Dolby, DTS Neo??
When watching a DTS movie on plex that option is ungrayed so I always pick DTS
However I have heard I should just leave it on PCM? However the amp then only shows stereo always

For youtube, IPTV and so on what do I use - dolby? This sometimes sounds unnatural. But it seems to force all audio from iplayer or whatever to dolby digital. Why can't I just set it so the TV outputs whatever the audio source is i.e. youtube or iplayer or amazon TV etc?

If all sound is outputted from the TV via ARC, you might as well set the outputs to stereo.

Sorry if I've misunderstood but it doesn't sound like you are using powered speakers.
It is Q acoustics q7000i 5.1 with the Denon amp

Thanks for the reply. Most of the time we use a virgin box which is directly plugged into the avr and the audio is auto detected just fine ie BBC HD channels output in dolby digital and most others are normal stereo

However whilst using Plex etc which is through the TV I am unsure which option to use. Most movies I have are dolby digital or dts so I don't know whether to just use PCM?

You might be able to tell the tv to output in DD. I believe DTS/DD is the best via arc i.e. no loseless formats. Im using toslink due to arc issues anyway.

DD and DTS are an option
However if I play Youtube video or stereo and output via DD it sometimes sounds a little funny as it is a stereo source?

I guess it depends what it's been recorded as, a blogger isn't likely to record in 5.1 for example so you'd be limited to Dolby surround or dts neural X.
It always gives options for PCM, DTS Neo or DD though - and I have no idea what to leave it on because I can't be arsed to change it every time I use a different app
