I found a virus that infects .html etc files and then allows .dll files to be run.

I think my kernell32.dll has been infected, and this seems confirmed, as I tried to play FEAR that I recently updated and it gave me a kernell32.dll error.

Any ideas?

run an Anti-virus scanning / cleaning utility

if you dont have one installed locally

use an online one such as trend micro housecall, panda online virus scan or microsoft windows live safety scan

trend micro just doesn't work now for some reason online, it says it's updating the components then just keeps loading 4 or 5 items at the bottom continuously without getting anywhere.

panda says this:

Possible causes of this error are:

Not allowing the application's ActiveX control to be downloaded.

Problems with the Internet connection.

The error could be due to a download error or an installation error due to lack of hard disk space, privileges etc.,...

even though I have allowed its active x content!
