Hi all, was recently going through some boxes from the loft in the house I no longer live in, and came across this lot..

All top pic are PC games, all with manuals or whatever they were supposed to come with and all in mint condition..

Next two pics C64 games, the top image is stuff that is quite good quality, and all have the manuals etc.. all tapes look to have been rewound etc etc.. other than the barbarian box.. which is trashed..

The Total Eclipse thing in the second pic is still sealed... but otherwise the second lot are in varying conditions.. :(

edit: just to add a bit more, I have no idea on the actual condition of the C64 tapes, I don't own a tape player, so can't even play them..

I know there are a few on here that collect / know about this older stuff.. anything worth any decent cash? or stick a free to a good home post up? Charity Shop? would a charity shop even take them?

Thanks for any and all reasonable suggestions..
S.

If nothing else, brought back some good memories :)

Discs begin to degrade after a few years, you'd need to check each one before trying to sell, I had a bunch of early 2000 discs and CDR/RWs that had to be chucked as they wouldn't get recognised in my drives.

ah fn.. thanks.. I hadn't thought about the PC DVD's and CD's, I think I do have a usb, DVD thing somewhere.. but to be honest, unless they are worth something, then I can't be bothered testing them.. pointless testing them if they are due for the bin..

If you're giving away for free Id certainly love them for my collection and happy to pay for postage! Bit of a retro gaming nerd and have so many Amstrad and ZX Spectrum tapes, with C64's on the shelf ;)
If you're selling though, stick em up in the for sale section!

As for the CDS/DVDS , CEX take them and will give you cash or a voucher

I'd have no idea what to sell them for, hence this thread really.. if they are only worth a couple of quid.. then happy to bung them your way.. same with the CDs/DVDs if CEX is only going to give me a qoupld of quid.. i'm not that fussed..

Here's what I do when it comes to buying games as I'm a bit of a hoarder haha

Go on the bay, type the game such as TOM AND JERRY C64 or BUBBLE GHOST C64 and see the sold section. That'l give you a good idea what each one sold for :) - If doing bundles just do what I said before, but put the price together and lower it as a bundle deal for the for sale section

TOM AND JERRY C64 , there's one up for £20 unsold, so that gives you an idea

Hope that helps man!

Generally retail CDs/DVDs if kept in cool and dark conditions will last 10-20+ years - most of my late 1990s/early 2000s games the discs were still readable when I checked a few months ago though I don't expect them to last forever.

Writeable CDs/DVDs tend to start degrading after about 4 years and unreadable after about 10 unless you bought quality ones which can last 10+ years (the general off the shelf ones from high street retailers, etc. don't tend to be long lasting ones).

I went through a whole load of stuff tapes, floppies and CDs/DVDs recently which dated from approx. 1980 through to 2001 and half of them worked just like when they were new, and the rest about 90% of the data was recoverable using recovery tools only a small number were totally unrecoverably dead, however the USB sticks from the early 2000s most of them were unreadable and unrecoverable.

wow.. if some of those C64 games are worth £20 a pop.. then it might be worth attempting to sell them... or put them back into storage until they are worth twice as much ;)

so the PC dvd's are probably ok, but it's only worth testing them if they are worth something..

I guess i'm off to ebay.. to check each game.. :(..
