What do I do with this Geocache?

On the way back from school my toddler found a black plastic photographic film container. It was just lying on a footpath in plain view. I opened it, saw a roll of paper and decided to decipher it at home. Anyway, it turned out to be one of those geocache things. I'm going to return it in a couple of hours but the thing is, I don't know where to put it! I'm sure it's supposed to be hidden (apparently this has been somewhere around here for two years and I've walked the path twice a day during that time and never seen it) but this most certainly wasn't and I'd noted it days ago. I can't read the writing inside very well. Here's a site that seems to be talking about it:

Can anyone decipher the exact place it came from so I can return it properly?

The clue is "delve into the black hole".

I would go back and have a look for a "black hole" hiding place. If not obvious contact the owner.
 
From the gallery images on that page I'd guess it was in the hole under the arched cap stone on that wall. I assume the wall is on the path near to where you found it.
 
I don't get it, what's geocaching. I did google but it seems to suggest that it's a pointless treasure hunt type thing. is it? is that what it is?

It is, but it's fun. Just like any other activity you do for no reason but because you enjoy it. :)

My family and I do geocaching a lot. We go on a lot of walks/hikes, it helps to make said walks more enjoyable for the kids! It can take you places you would never think of going, and adds a little more than just walking a route. We have found some beautiful walks because we wanted to get to a cache somewhere.

Better than sitting in front of a tv or screen (which I also do lol)
