Well as most of you know I have electrical problems with my focus, i have had 2 new batteries and 2 new alternator fitted, everyhting was fine until about 4 months later and it started to play up again.

Now I thought it may be something to do with water geting somewhere it shouldn't when I was washing it (hosepipe). So I didn't clean it for weeks, still the same. Recently I got a new facia piece to make a single din conversion, therefore I put my old standard stereo back and everything was fine for a week.

As soon as I went back to work, it started playing up again. Me and my dad had a look on sunday and when the electrics fail, one of the relays actually clicks behind the glove box and is getting hot, is this normal?

I've had relatives look at the car that work for fords/ or use to and they think it could be part of the wiring getting hot after constant usage and when it gets hot thats when it happens, or something along the lines of that.

i'm worried that if i take it to fords they will charge me £70 odd for te diagnostics test and tell me there F A wrong with it as they will end up testing it when it's fine, people don't seem to understand that you need to stress test (actually get in the car and drive it) for it to play up.

it has gotton soo bad that when driving along and it plays up, it not only looses all the electrical devices power in the car, it's now effect the engine power too so it will actually cut out and just roll, couple of seconds later (5 or so) it'll come back to life.

As you can probably guess I'm sooooo ****** off with my car, taht im loosing interest in it completly, not only that but when it played up the other day, it has also stopped my driver side window from working :( , when you push the button it clicks and draws power it just doesn't move down  .

It's getting to the point where i just want to get rid of the car completly and get something else...

HELP ME PLEASE BEFORE I TOP MY CAR OR MYSELF!!!

******* car ! :x

First off I'd fully star those out, unless you like forum vacations!! ;)

As to the electrical faults, an intermittent fault is one of the hardest to diagnose. I'm not familiar enough with your exact car to know what that relay you're talking about is for, but relays are NOT meant to get hot.

If a relay is getting hot, it means there's too much current being drawn through it. So that points to a short circuit. Find out what that relay drives, and I'll be able to help you more.

Thanks for the reply :) .

The car is a Ford Focus Zetec 1.4 mk1 (2001) . If taht helps anyone :(
