what is the cheapest way to set up an additional 2 screens on my pc.
ive got a Compaq Presario
AMD athlon(m) 64 proccesor
3200+
994mhz, 448Mb of ram.
i have three monitors ( actually have 5 )
but no idea what i need to run them side by side.
and
is ultramon any good after i have the set up???

What is your full set up it depends on how many DVI and VGA ports you have on the graphics card i think the only way to have 3 monitors is to have SLI. Yes and ultrmon is good for dual screen.

i have only 1 output on my graphics card.
but at the rear of my philips screen i have a DVD-D output socket can this be used to plug in a second monitor????

You need to either replace your current graphics card, or add an additional one. Since you have a compaq however, your graphics card is probably built onto the motherboard, so you'll most likely need 2 graphics cards, as the first will most likely disable the onboard graphics.

So, you need to open up your compaq and see what connections are to be found inside - AGP, PCI, PCIEX ? and then purchase graphics cards to suit.
