What do I need to boost performance in supreme commander?

Without changing your cpu i dont think you can do much really, supcom is a notorious cpu hog and can even bog down quads in bigger battles!

yes, your CPU would be the bottleneck without a doubt, it is recommended you have a Quad core for it

Well to be honest your GPU aint best either ....

7800GTX is pretty old so I guess both GPU and CPU might be holding you back here.

from cheapest options, E7200 (or 8400 is really cheap right now, not much more, but then u will need better mobo as well) + GAP35DS3L + HD4850 should give you a huge boost.

Hmm, personally I've never seen it go above 500mb in task manager, this is with almost everything maxed out

Sure that wasn't company of heroes? On vista it used up about 50% more ram which caused crashing on 32-bit systems.
