These are my specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte z97-HD3
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHZ (2 Cores)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
RAM: 8GB

My PC is generally slow, things load up slowly etc. And I can run games like Destiny 2 find on Low Graphics, and games like CSGO run smooth on decent graphics. I currently only have a hard drive, If I want to upgrade my PC to make it faster, should I invest in an SSD or upgrade my CPU?
(I dont know too much about PC stuff, only a little)

I dont plan on spending much, as gaming is only a hobby i do on evenings/weekends when ive finished all my uni work. Probably only up to £100 or £150

You could get a decent size ssd and an extra 8Gb stick of memory, this should hopefully help to speed things up a bit.
You would need to know what memory you have in your computer so you can match up the speeds.
CPUZ will take you what you need to know.
Here is a link for it:
https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
It will tell you how many sticks of memory you have and what speed they are running at.
Have a look then report back.

Your cpu is old now and under powered.
So don't expect miracles, though an ssd drive will make a big difference to usability.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

The first thing I would replace is the cpu. A dual core cpu is hopelessly out of date these days and is probably your biggest bottleneck. Have a look for a second hand i7 4790/4790k which are the fastest cpu's for that platform but don't pay too much for it. If you got a 4790k you would be able to overclock it.

Next would be a SSD as they are much faster than a mechanical drive.

Last but not least would be 16Gb of 2133-2400mhz DDR3 but again buy second hand and don't pay over the odds.

I would prioritise the SSD for general desktop usage.

For recent games you need at least a quad core, unfortunately. From what I can gather for Destiny 2 you need at least 4 threads to get stable FPS. A quad core for your motherboard can be found around £30 - £40, but 8 threads would give you better longevity.

The RAM would be my lowest priority, if you shut everything down before gaming it should be alright for now. Is it 2 sticks or 1?
