What do i need to upgrade?

Hi'

I got BF3 last week and it is occasionally crashing and takes a long time to load between the maps.

Currently i have the game installed to my Corsair 60gb SSD
Have 4GB DDR2 RAM
Good old Intel Q6600 CPU
Old 8800GTX
and running on Windows 7 64bit

I'm guessing the graphics card is going to be whats causing the game to lag occasionally when playing it, whats likely to be causing the long load times?
Am i likely to get away with just getting a new GPU or is it likely to be a new pc?


I don't want to be spending a penny more than £200 to get the PC up to spec, if it does need a full overhaul i'll just not play BF3

what resolution screen do you play on ?

1440 x 900, have two screen, bf3 on one , normally the net on the other

Sounds promising, you can concentrate on just a gpu upgrade and not a gpu+psu upgrade.

Do try and find the model, will be on a label on the side of it.

New gpu would do just fine and try to oc the q6600

i have one of the big thermaltake kandalf cases, quite heavy to move about! Any recomendations on gpu for less than £200 then?

brilliant thanks for the advise. Will look into overclocking the cpu, not something i have done since my old amd athlon 2400.
Will grab myself a gtx560ti when theres an offer on them

I saw that, i already have bf3 so might see if the deal changes to another couple of games and go for it.
