Hello i am on a very tight budget 200-300 pounds.

I just need to run Wildstar and Elite dangerous better. I can run Wildstar at medium settings.

Currently my system is (don't laugh).

Windows Home premium 64 bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66GHz
4 x 1GB pc-8500 ddr2 ram
gtx-280
Velociraptor HDD 10k rpm
GA-P35-DS3R
500-600 PSU

I know it is all rubbish but i am on a very tight budget.

If i was to upgrade anything what would benefit me the most.

For gaming purposes only.

GPU first then for that budget you could not go intel route for CPU and Motherboard, AMD might be the way to go but the GPU would take up most of the budget.

I would say GPU and faster ram if you can find it.

8Gb not really need tbh for most games...think he was meaning fatser speed ram but i would be tempted to just got for better gpu and overclock cpu to reduce bottleneck.

Plenty of guides on here on how to overclock :)

Ram:
You may need to buy used, can't find sticks for your mobo :(

I'd go for that 270, ram ( if you can find some cheap 8 gb) and ssd. If you prefer nvidia, then the card I listed is very good - I had it and was playing titles like wow or mechwarrior online ( no aa) on high settings.
If you buy all, you should end up with around 210£ total.

Pass...might be best asking in the graphic card section as others better qualified to answer that question...been 3 years since i upgraded mine so bit out of touch.

Whatever you get the cpu will most like be the bottleneck holding the gpu back so overclocking it to 3Ghz+ would see some benefits for sure...its not hard and its good fun too :)
