Hey guys

Been wireless for about 3 years but now im just getting sick of it, constantly having to reconnect to my router, lag spikes in multiplayer FPS games and my downloading lately will constantly be go up to 1100kbps, down to 1kbps ,back up, back down ect. Its near about impossible to get a "Excellent" connection anything lower and its not happy at all

So what do i need? I have a Sky router but i dont have any kind of connection on my computer. Do i need to buy a modem or do i buy something to put into the comp and then i just have wire straight from the router to the comp?

Or is there any good wireless hubs? Ive had mine a few year so that could be cause of the problem? I dunno. Its a belkin anyway

cheers

You should have all the tools you need at home. Sky will have supplied you with a yellow network cable. All you have to do is plug one end into the back of your router and the other into the LAN Port in the back of your motherboard shown below.

I'm having this problem myself. If the problem is with the Sky modem/router then, bar the somewhat risky process of hacking it and flashing a new one, you HAVE to use the modem Sky provide as it's part of their t&c's :(

Only other option is to forego wireless and run a cable.

T&c verified by using an un-spoofable mac... so long as a router can spook the mac of the one sky gave you you can use any you like without telling sky, although the wireless on the gts is usually rock solid.

If you've been using wireless for years and it's only recently stopped working properly it's mostly likly interference/poor reception. At the very least it's a good thing to rule out. Download InSIDDer (free) and run it, simply switching to a less crowded channel could solve your issues.

a lot of people near me have sky, and they're all on the same channel along with everyone using bt & talktalk. Wonder why they have problems :)

Cheers guys

Your right about the motherboard, the metal plate on the antec 900 case was covering the connections up

Azuse.....cheers for that ill check it out later before i put wires in
