so... i've been playing a boatload recently... and finishing a boatload recently too... i've gone through Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Max Payne 2, C&C3: Kane's Wrath, and now Crysis. what next? anyone have any recommendations?

thinking of grabbing WiC / Oblivion GoTY / all the GTAs from Steam...

HL2/EP1/EP2/Portal

Oblivion is definitely a good choice.

STALKER, but its not everyones cup of tea.

Company of Heroes, its slowly rising to the top of my most played games list, so I'll have to recommend that.

Stalker is highly recommended. There aren't many games with it's amazing atmosphere. It's a slow starter, and can be quiet hard to begin with( I usually crank the difficulty from the jump), but when you get some of the flashier weapons, it's an amazing shooter with some light rpg elements.

Started playing this on friday and I'm up to Lake Yantar. Yeah its quite slow to begin with until you get past the Garbage but then there's some real tasty kit available. Thoroughly recommend picking up a copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and getting some mods on it too, like the S.H.A.R.P.E.R textures mod and possibly some weather mods too.

Before I go into my opinions on WoW, let me say I played it to a very high level and played it far more than was healthy. Put it down to overexposure, boredom, but I'm going to have a winge anyway.

First things first. It's really about the people you play it with. If you have friends in the game, or people looking to start playing with you, great.. go for it. It can be a lot of fun playing with people you get on with, but the game itself, I find rather underwhelming. It's all about repetition and how much time you can sink into it. I do believe there is very little skill involved, it's not something I want to debate heavily, but I think the largest gaps between players are having a life outside of the game or not. I'm really competitive when it comes to games(and I was on a pvp) server, so it all felt a bit redundant.

I do still play occasionally, but it's really like a glorified chatroom with a funky interface to me, I speak to old friends from the game and diddle around. If people aren't too competitive and can resist the urge to play it for silly amounts of time, then there's something to be had from it. Winge over.

Team Fortress 2 is brilliant. I'd recommend the Orange Box as theres lots of variety. Portal is very very good and don't worry about the length as the quality is supreme. If you don't want to fork our for the orange box then TF2 is $20 on steam right now.

Sometimes with an online FPS the learning curve is steep which could be said for TF2 but oncec you get the hang of it then its just fun fun fun, which is what your playing games for right?

Glad to see you are not afraid to try games from a few years ago. I'd definitely recommend picking up the GTA series.

The outside world is getting more attractive lately as the sun starts to come out. Maybe you should go take the worst of the albino effect away before you sit down to a new game ;)

*goes into his 200th hour of TF2*
