What do laptops use for backlights? - the older ones

I know newer laptops use leds for backlight, but what do the older laptops use?

Most laptops (including new ones) use CCFLs - Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps. LEDs tend to only be used in higher-spec models, or they're available as an added-cost option.
