What do people use for video editing?

To be honest, I think I'm going to be lazy and just tick the Premiere box in CC and up my sub to £27, although that's a hell of a jump from £8 for LR & PS. That being said, Premiere has a lot of nice features, just skimming through the site.

Is there something that's equal or better, that isn't hugely expensive?

I use Premiere for editing, Resolve for grading, and After Effects for titles/animations. Resolve 11 has more editing features now as well, the lite version is free and not actually that limited compared to the full version. There's Lightworks as well which is free.

Just realised I'm a smidge over budget this month due to extra memory cards and carry case for the Phantom, so I'll have to wait a few days

I have been using Sony Vegas for a couple of years, and find it very good, doing all I need of it. I found it more intuitive to use over Abobe, and also found effects and rendering were far quicker, but that might have changed with more recent releases.

The best thing is to download the free trails, and see which you like the best.

Yep Vegas is fine too, just not quite as good for professional applications.

Used to use a mix of virtualdubmod and lightworks but its been awhile and I think the free version of LW is now limited to 720p.

Tempted to have a look at resolve.
