What do the numbers mean

I am hoping someone can help me out here.

I want to upgrade the ram in my father in laws laptop from 2 to 4 GB and in order to minimize cost I want to purchase second hand ram. The ram in his machine is Elpida SO-DIMM PC3-10600S-9-10-B1.

Herein lies the problem. Whilst I understand the PC3-10600S bit I am at a loss as to what the other numbers and letters mean. I have seen similar ram that has an F2 or B2 reference at the end which widens my choice somewhat. However I obviously do not want to buy anything that will not be compatible. Does anyone know what the last references mean i.e. -9-10-B1 and whether it will make a difference or will the F2 or B2 be OK.

I would appreciate any info or clarification that anyone may have.
Many thanks

Thanks for the response - appreciated:)
Sorry to be a bit dim (pun intended) but does that mean that as long as the ram is a SO-DIMM PC3 -10600S then it will be ok? and that the card revision or latency is not particularly significant - in a nutshell will it work
Thanks again

Yes, you can check here for compatible Crucial memory.

Might be better buying it new, as your covered by warranty.
